Q: Can Stairlifts Go Around Corners?

A: Stairlifts can go around corners. Stairlifts can be fitted to most stair configurations. They can travel round corners, spiral staircase and across landings. Our stairlifts can be designed for each individual staircase.

Q: What is the Difference Between a Curved and a Straight Stairlift?

A: A straight stairlift is fitted to a straight track, allowing you to move smoothly up and down your stairs in a single direction. A curved stairlift fitted to a curved track, designed to follow the curves and bends of your staircase. This type of track is custom made to your home, and because of this they are usually more expensive than a straight stairlift. BAW Stairlifts can assist with making the right choice of stairlift to fit your home.

Q: Do Stairlifts Use a lot of Electricity?

A: Our stairlift doesn't use a lot of electricity and typically uses the same amount of electricity as a small television on standby (Might add Kwh per year of curve 35kwh per year/straight 23Kwh per year).

Q: How Do I Choose a Stairlift?

A: Different models of stairlifts suit each person's needs. We can assess your personal needs ensuring the right stairlift is fitted, this includes curve models, standing models, comfortable seated indoor or outdoor models. Once you've decided to get a stairlift, the next step is choosing the correct model for you. This will depend on whether your staircase is straight or curved. Q: How Do Stairlifts Work?

A: Stairlifts are battery powered. An energy efficient stairlift battery makes stairlift use more reliable in the event of a power cut. The battery powers a small motor connected to gears so the stairlift can move up and down the stairs. To move up and down the stairlift is operated by easy-to-use armrest controls and a remote control. The stairlift has been designed and manufactured to travel on a single rail track that is mounted to your staircase. There are three main components to our lift. The motor, battery, and gear.

Q: How Long Does It Take to Install a Stairlift?

A: Typically, a stairlift takes 1 to 2 hours to install, with more complex installations taking 4 to 6 hours. After your stairlift is installed, our engineers will provide you with a demonstration to show you how to use it. We’ll also tidy up after ourselves and take away any waste packaging.

Q: How Fast Can a Stairlift Go?

A: A stairlift's speed is quite slow, traveling up to a maximum rated speed of 0.15 meters per second (0.34 mph), so an average straight staircase journey can take around 30-60 seconds to complete. This ensures a safe, comfortable ride.

Q: How Much do Stairlifts Cost?

A: The price of a stairlift all depends on your own personal requirements and the configuration of your staircase. Stairlifts can vary in price depending on the style, make, and model. New stairlift prices are not fixed, as the cost will depend on several different factors, and a reconditioned stairlift can be just as reliable and safe as a new stairlift at a fraction of the price. At BAW Stairlifts, we price our stairlifts competitively and have some great deals at the moment. Reconditioned stairlifts come with the same quality assurances that you would expect from any BAW stairlift. We can carry out an assessment and give you an accurate quotation. Q: How Much Space Does a Stairlift Take?

A: The space a stairlift takes up depends on the type of the stairlift and also the layout of your home. Stairlifts vary in shape and size, and depending on the type of stairlift you choose you will need clearance space at the top and bottom of your stairs to accommodate the rail and allow for the user to get on and off the stairlift easily. Compact stairlifts take up less room than a stairlifts with standard dimensions. BAW Stairlifts can assess this for you.

A: Reconditioned stairlifts are used stairlifts that have been restored and fully serviced ready for resale. Even though they’ve been pre-loved, they meet the BAW STAIR LIFT  high quality and safety standards. Reconditioned stairlifts provide a reliable and smooth ride equal to a brand new stairlift and are often a cheaper alternative to new stairlifts.

You’ll have the option to buy an extended warranty at the initial installation time or after the first 12 months is up. Without the extended cover, if you have a break down or need a repair or servicing after your standard warranty cover has expired, we will still attend your call out, but you will be billed at the standard rate for call-out, parts, and labour.

Q: What Happens If I'm on the Stairlift and Experience a Power Cut?

A: Your stairlift comes with a battery backup as standard, so if there is a power cut you should have enough battery power to make a couple of emergency trips until the power comes back on or you make other arrangements.
